Washington: US President Donald Trump has been nominated for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize due to his efforts for peace between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The US president, who was also nominated in 2018, was recommended for the precious prize by a member of the Norwegian parliament.

According to Fox News, the American president is named by Norwegian politician Christian Tybring-Gjedde.

To the best of his ability, I think he has tried more to make peace between nations than at most other peace awards, ”Mr. Tybring-Gjedde, a four-man member of parliament, told the channel.


On Tuesday, a White House official announced that Mr. Trump would hold a signing ceremony for the Middle East Agreement normalizing relations between Israel and the UAE on 15 September.

As part of the deal, it was announced at the White House on 13 August that officials said after 18 months of negotiations that the Gulf states agreed to a normal relationship with Israel, while Israel suspended its annexation of the West Bank Agreed to continue with the plan.

In 2020, there were 318 candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize.
